Frequently Asked Questions
General
A FOBU test (Fecal Occult Blood Test) is a rapid test to detect hidden (occult) blood in stool. Hidden blood can indicate gastrointestinal conditions such as bleeding, ulcers, polyps, or tumours.
Many serious conditions, including bowel cancer, show no symptoms in the early stages. Regular screening enables early detection and significantly improves treatment outcomes.
Yes. The sample is taken from stool — the animal is not touched or stressed. The test is completely non-invasive.
How to Use
Collect a small stool sample using the included collection aid, place it in the tube with extraction buffer, shake well, discard the first two drops, then add 3 drops to the sample well (S) of the test cassette. The result is readable after 5–10 minutes.
A very small amount — roughly pea-sized. The stool collection aid is included in the kit.
No. Use fresh stool samples for reliable results. Follow the storage instructions in the package insert.
If the control line (C) does not appear, the test is invalid. Repeat the test with a new cassette.
The first two drops may contain residue that could affect the result. Always discard them and use only the next 3 drops.
Results
Two lines (C + T) mean blood was detected in the stool. This is an indication of possible conditions — not a diagnosis. Please consult a veterinarian.
Only one line (C) means no blood was detected. Continue regular preventive testing.
Yes. Any visible line in the test zone (T), no matter how faint, is a positive result.
False positive or false negative results cannot be fully excluded. The result must always be evaluated in the context of the animal's clinical condition. Diagnosis is made by the vet.
